LayerFlow3D vs Khayt
Khayt is a free desktop app, built by one person since May 2026, that keeps the whole shop in a file on your own computer: quotes priced from a model file, orders, signed e-invoices, spools, and printers it can send a file to and start. It costs nothing and drives the machines, which we do not. Its shop page and customer portal live in an optional cloud that is still in beta; ours is the shop page a buyer orders and pays on, in the browser, on every plan.

Choose Khayt if
- You want to pay nothing: the desktop app is free, with no subscription.
- You want the shop in a file on your own computer, working offline, rather than in a browser.
- You want to send a sliced file to a printer and start it from the same app that holds the order.
- You invoice in Saudi Arabia and need signed e-invoices.
Choose LayerFlow3D if
- You want buyers to order and pay on a shop page that runs on every plan today, not in a beta.
- You and your team work from any device, in a browser, in one workspace.
- You want to see it before installing anything: the demo opens in the browser without an account.
- You want the printers left as they are: we only read them, so nothing we do can start or stop a print.
Side by side
| Feature | LayerFlow3D | Khayt |
|---|---|---|
| Where it runs | In the browser, on any computer or phone, with a small agent on a computer in the shop to read the printers. | A desktop app for Windows 10 and 11 and Linux, and a native Mac app in beta for Apple silicon on macOS 26 or later. An iPhone app is on TestFlight and pairs with your Mac or PC. 1 |
| Quotes and invoices | No invoices yet, and no quote you send for a customer to accept. A buyer's sliced upload can be priced on the shop page for you to confirm. | Quotes priced from an STL, 3MF or G-code dropped on the calculator, and cryptographically signed e-invoices with QR codes. 1 |
| Where print time and filament weight come from | From the slicer file: a sliced G-code or 3MF from Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer, Cura, Simplify3D or ideaMaker fills in the print time and the grams. A raw STL or an unsliced 3MF has neither yet, so it is sliced first. | From the model file, against your machine, material and margin; every estimate says whether the rate behind it was measured or assumed. 1 |
| Reading the printers | Read-only telemetry on every plan: Bambu Lab, Creality and Anycubic, confirmed on real machines; Elegoo, Flashforge, Klipper + Moonraker and Prusa / OctoPrint in beta, built to their published protocols. | OctoPrint, Moonraker (Klipper), Bambu Lab, PrusaLink, Duet, Repetier and Elegoo, with live temperature and progress. 1 |
| Controlling the printers | No. We read the machines and never start, pause or stop a print. | Yes: it can "send a sliced file to a printer and start it". 1 |
| Filament stock | Sealed boxes and open spools to the gram; an order takes its planned filament when it moves to In progress. | Spools and resin bottles, deducted when a job completes, from what the printer reports. 1 |
| Selling to customers directly | A public shop page on every plan. The buyer orders without an account and pays at checkout into your own Stripe or Revolut account, or pays later. | In the optional cloud, in beta: a public shop page with prices, a cart and promo codes, whose orders arrive as draft quotes, with a deposit taken through your own payment link; and a customer portal with quote approval and order tracking. 1 |
| Who is behind it | Two people, in Ukraine; it started as one print shop's own tool. | One person: the terms say "there is no company behind Khayt yet". 2 |

Questions people ask
Is Khayt the same as Khat?
No. This page is about khaytapp.com, by Turki Alballaa. Khat is an Arabic handwriting app and Alkhayat is another App Store app; Bed Ready, from the same maker as Khayt, is for personal printing and has no invoicing.
Does Khayt give customers a shop page they can pay on?
In its optional cloud, which is in beta: a public page with a cart, where an order arrives as a draft quote and a deposit can be taken through your own payment link. Ours is on every plan: the buyer pays at checkout into your own Stripe or Revolut account, or pays later.
What will the Khayt cloud cost?
Nothing yet: it is in beta and not charging. Their home page says $9 a month, and their plan list $7, $18 or $48 a month, so check before you rely on either. The desktop app stays free.
