LayerFlow3D vs 3DPCC

3DPCC - 3D Printing Control Center - is a pricing desk first: material, machine wear, electricity, labour, hardware and packaging, a margin, and a branded PDF quote, on the web and on an iPhone. It keeps customers, orders and spools too, all by hand. We read the printers and the slicer file and sell from a shop page; they ask you to type what the slicer said.

Choose 3DPCC if

  • You price before you print and want a branded PDF quote at the end of it - something we do not send.
  • You print resin as well as filament, or want hardware and packaging costed into every job.
  • You want a native iPhone app.

Choose LayerFlow3D if

  • You would rather not retype what the slicer and the printers already know.
  • You want spools to go down by themselves as orders are made.
  • You sell to people who find you on social media, from a page they can order on.
  • You take orders from Shopify, Etsy or a CSV rather than typing each one.

Side by side

What goes into the cost Filament, machine hours at the printer's own rate, power draw, labour and margin. Material, machine (electricity, maintenance and a share of the printer's price), labour, hardware and packaging, then a margin; FDM and resin. 1
Where print time and filament weight come from From the slicer file: a sliced G-code or 3MF from Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer, Cura, Simplify3D or ideaMaker fills in the print time and the grams. A raw STL or an unsliced 3MF has neither yet, so it is sliced first. Typed in from the slicer: "Do I upload an STL file to get an instant quote? No." 1
Filament stock Sealed boxes and open spools to the gram; an order takes its planned filament when it moves to In progress. A count of full spools plus an "In use" figure in grams, both updated by hand. 2
Reading the printers Read-only telemetry on every plan: Bambu Lab, Creality and Anycubic, confirmed on real machines; Elegoo, Flashforge, Klipper + Moonraker and Prusa / OctoPrint in beta, built to their published protocols. "No printer connection is needed for job costing." 3
Quotes to customers No quote you send for a customer to accept. A buyer's sliced upload can be priced on the shop page for you to confirm. Theirs: saved quotes, branded PDFs and share links. 1
Sales channels A shop page of your own, plus order import from Squarespace (beta), Prom.ua (beta) and Shopify (beta). Orders by hand. A saved Etsy channel does not "automatically import marketplace orders". 4
Selling to customers directly A public shop page included on every plan, that a buyer can order from without an account. No shop page; quotes go out as links and PDFs. 1
On a phone The whole app in a phone browser, installable to the home screen. A native iPhone and iPad app beside the web one; "some features are only available in the browser version". 3

Questions people ask

Who makes 3DPCC?

Their site does not name a company. Their terms are under Polish law, and the App Store lists the iPhone app under a private developer. That is common for a small product and says nothing about its quality; it is worth knowing before you put your customer list into any tool.

Is their costing more detailed than yours?

In two places, yes: hardware and packaging per job, and resin. In one, no: every figure is typed, where ours come from the slicer file and the printer. You can compare the arithmetic without signing up to either - their free tier and our 3D print cost calculator both run without an account.
